Forever Free x Stanford University
The Stories Of Black History And Black Graphic Design In America.
Role: Poster design, booklet design
Originally a university project to celebrate Black history month, this project made its way to Stanford University's History of Black Graphic Design Archive Collection.
The project involved researching a moment in Black history in America, and a historic Black American graphic designer. The poster and its corresponding booklet tell the story of the moment and are visually inspired by the works of the historic designer. In this case, I was privileged to research the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation and the work of Cheryl D. Holmes-Miller.
I am fortunate to have met and had conversations with Cheryl D. Holmes-Miller. She was gracious enough to invite me to contribute this work, titled "Forever Free," to Stanford University. She has done great work creating opportunities for BIPOC graphic designers, earning an AIGA medal in 2021 for her efforts.
